THERE IS MORE TO SUCCESS; PREPARE FOR IT

I love to play Football Manager, and it’s been my best game so far – even more so since I can’t play real football.

This morning though, while playing, I set a lineup for an Euro Exhibition match against Switzerland. But because it was an almost inconsequential match, I promoted about eight academy players and fielded (used) five in the first eleven!

Subsequently, I was afraid I could lose for fielding weak players, so I set my seven substitute players to be my best players; Messi, Cruyff, Frenkie de Jong, etc., game changing players.

Guy with CCTV in the background

“YOU ARE ON CCTV”

Around campus here, there are CCTVs everywhere. You can see them, even if you didn’t look too hard… Still, there are signs close to every placement saying, “You are on CCTV”.

Barring other reasons, I have come to see a wisdom in it: even when people around you could see something, you have a responsibility to tell them. Make them see. Show them. Direct their attention to it…

It’s not enough to say, “…but it was obvious.” or “…you should know.”

MY SINK STORY AND LESSON

In the dorm here, we take turns in washing the laundry & rest rooms every week in groups. Yesterday, it was my group’s turn. I got sinks & mirror… While washing the sink, I discovered one particular sink was the dirtiest. Why, I wondered and then I realized the faucet wasn’t working.

In context, there are seven sinks (that is, seven faucets). Typically, the dirtiest was the one not working. I figured, someone could start to use it only to discover, no water. No need staying around then, he moves to the next, which works, leaving behind the dirt, unwashed.

Of course, we could talk about how they know it doesn’t work but still use it. Maybe. Even if there isn’t a sign that screams, ‘DO NOT USE!’

African lady all smiles

SAY ‘THANK YOU’ WITH A SMILE; EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T MEAN IT

I was at the bank over a year ago (Sept 5th, 2019) to complain about something that got me frustrated the previous day. That is to show you I wasn’t excited about visiting the banking hall. On the typically long queue, a beautiful young lady approached each of us, heard our complaints and proceeded to make our reporting smooth.
She got to me, and I replied her good afternoon with my signature smile and a hearty good afternoon. Fast forward to a couple of explanations, she gave me a form to fill. Afterwards, I said my thank you with a smile and waited for my turn to meet the almighty customer service agent.

TELL YOUR STORIES, IT IS NOT PRIDE!

There’s this brand of humility that’s only been spoken of in recent times – it’s the Jesus’ brand of humility. That although he was lowly, calm and all, yet, he proclaimed his identity as Son of God and, his business with salvation and miracle with the pride of their influence to the world!

I mean, this was a seemingly ordinary man who stood in the synagogue, our version of church, and read from scriptures written centuries ago by Prophet Isaiah and declared these words were ’bout him:
