Dear Young Man Series: Going Higher and Forward

Dear young man,

Do you understand what it means to grow higher and forward?

Let me explain using a ladder and a conventional stairway as examples (ladders are special types of stairways too).

Ladders are structures built straight to climb higher in such a way that each rung is placed directly above, but not forward, the last one.

Which means, going higher requires you step on each rung above the other in a vertical upward manner (like elevators).

I ONCE LOST ABOUT 100 POEMS!

It was in part three, OAU (2013). I had a mini laptop. I think it was Lenovo.

This is how I remember it.

I was at the English Department lobby having just finished writing a poem. I think it was about the way people see things around them. Not sure, but it was a long one.

I finished the poem, saved it and proceeded to do other things. Suddenly the system restarted. It shocked me. I didn’t do that, but then I quickly shoved it off and waited for it to restart. Stuff happens, I guess.

#𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲: Today is Monday and these are business lessons from Mr. Bartimaeus’ transaction with the CEO, Jesus Christ.

1. 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒆𝒖𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝑱𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒔 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒚.

Jesus went about doing good. Bartholomew must have heard that. And when Jesus passed by, he heard that too. So, he made his pitch. That business of us, someone needs to hear you.

2. 𝑯𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒂 𝒔𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒉.

“𝐽𝑒𝑠𝑢𝑠! 𝑆𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝐷𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑑! 𝐻𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑒𝑟𝑐𝑦 𝑜𝑛 𝑚𝑒!” What better pitch than to acknowledge Jesus’ earthly lineage to a great patriarch tied to his divine assignment? It caught Jesus’ attention. Your calling has to be captivating. You probably will have less than 5 minutes. Your pitch needs some emotion with real facts.
